The Württemberg Philharmonic in Reutlingen has announced the appointment of French conductor Ariane Matiakh as the new conductor.

Matiakh has conducted operas such as the Komische Oper Berlin, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Opéra national du Rhin, the Opéra national de Montpellier and the Opéra De Nationale, among others. She has also conducted orchestras such as Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, Wiener Symphoniker, ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien, Orchester de Paris, Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Dresden Philharmonic, WDR and MDR Symphony Orchestras, Orchester du Capitole de Toulouse and Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra.

In September 2018, the Staatskapelle Halle announced the appointment of Matiakh as the new General Music Director. In January 2020, by mutual agreement, Matiakh resigned his post at Staatskapelle Halle.

The mayor of Reutlingen, Thomas Keck, called Matiakh’s appointment a real stroke of luck.

Matiakh will assume his new position from the 2022-2023 season. The initial contract is valid for a period of three years.
