Conductor Tarmo Peltokoski has been appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.
This is the first time in its 42-year history that the company has designated a conductor with this title.
The 21-year-old Finnish maestro made his debut with the organization in June 2021 at the “Glocke” concert hall in Bremen and in 2022 Peltokoski is expected to lead the ensemble at Musikfest Bremen, Beethovenfest Bonn and the Schleswig-Holstein Festival in music.
“A deep love and respect binds me to the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. The greatest moments of musical creation that I have experienced have been with them, and I am indescribably grateful, honored and blessed to have received this title,” said Peltokoski said of his appointment in an official statement.
Peltokoski will have a busy 2021-22 season, making his debut with organizations such as Opéra Komische, Orchester Symphonique du hr and at the Festival Septembre Musical Montreux-Vevey. He is also set to conduct his first full “Ring Cycle” at the Eurajoki Bel Canto Festival.
“I met Tarmo, I am impressed by his talent and I look forward to having a lively exchange with him in the years to come,” said Paavo Järvi, artistic director of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.
