Meet rising opera star Pumeza Matshikiza at the Roodepoort Theater

Hear one of the most exciting new opera voices, Pumeza Matshikiza, at the Roodepoort Theater, Johannesburg on November 2, 2021.

Matshikiza is an exclusive recording artist for Decca Classics and has released two albums featuring traditional and popular African tunes and songs with a selection of opera arias and songs from her current repertoire.

This South African opera star will present a special concert and she will be accompanied by Paul Ferreira on the piano. The performance is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. sharp and tickets will sell for R 180 per person or R 340 for two. Customers are encouraged to reserve their seats online to avoid disappointment as seats are limited.

This concert will be an excellent treat for all music lovers deprived of live music due to the Coronavirus pandemic. This is the opportunity to listen to top talent sing a superb selection of opera arias and traditional South African songs. Matshikiza made his debut as Fox in Janacek’s The Cunning Little Vixen at the English National Opera.

She appeared at the English National Opera as Moira in the world premiere of The Handmaid’s Tale, written by Poul Ruders. The soprano could also be heard in a gala concert alongside Rolando Villazón at the Sopot Classic Festival and in a solo recital for the West Wicklow Festival Ireland, broadcast on DG Stage.

The concerts scheduled at the LSSO Summer Festival, at the Pažaislis Festival in 20/21 and the tour with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra in 19/20 have unfortunately been canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
