Artists Striving to End Poverty presents its 12th edition Christmas in New York: a concert for the benefit of ASTEP December 13 at 7 p.m. at Joe’s Pub.

Sing new and classic holiday songs, plus tunes from the Sh-K-Boom / Ghostlight album New York City Christmas-are candidate Tony Kate Baldwin (Hello Dolly!), candidate Tony Montego Glovery (Memphis), Chester Grégoire (Motown), Sierra Boggess (The Phantom of the Opera), Alysha Umphresse (on the city), David Josefsberg (beetle juice), Kénita Miller (Come from afar), Kuhoo Verma (Plan B), Eric William Morris (King Kong), Gérard Canonico (groundhog day), Natalie Joy Johnson (Kinky Boots), Lauren Marcus (Be cooler), Ben Roseberry (The Lion King), Becca Gottlieb (Nickleby nickleby) and Kennedy Kanagawa (Saturday night).

The evening is designed and produced by Drama Desk-nominated orchestrator Lynne Shankel (Annie Live !, Allegiance), who is also the musical director of the performance. Shankel is featured on piano with Randy Landau on bass, Frank Pagano on drums, Jim Hershman and Peter Calo on guitar, Sarah HewiI Roth on cello, Max Mosten on violin, ScoI Kreitzer and Jeff Schiller on saxophone and Colin Brigstocke on saxophone trumpet.

ASTEP’s mission, conceived by Broadway Music Director Mary-Mitchell Campbell and students at Juilliard, is to connect performing and visual artists with youth from underserved communities in the United States and the United States. world to spark their imaginations, foster critical thinking and help them break the cycle of poverty.
