Ten tenors prove that “love is in the air” | The music

The last recording of the Ten Tenors might never have happened if one of them had not decided to get married.

“Paul Gelsumini, who had been with the band since 2011, wanted Ed Sheeran’s song ‘Perfect’ to be sung during the husband and wife dance,” said fellow tenor Michael Edwards. “And he asked if the rest of us would sing it at his wedding.

“And I guess that’s what really started,” Edwards said. “We started talking about songs people use for that first dance, or the walk down the aisle, and we thought that would make a great project.”

This idea became “Love Is in the Air”, which the Ten Tenors released in late 2019. The band had planned a major international tour to promote the album, including a trip to the United States in early 2020.

“We ended up cutting the tour short in February 2020 when things were starting to get bad,” Edwards said. “We’ve done a few tours in Australia, but this is the first time we’ve been to the United States in two years.”

The Ten Tenors’ “Love Is in the Air” tour arrives in Tulsa for a performance Tuesday, March 1, at the Tulsa PAC.

The program will be inspired by the album of the same name, which includes songs such as “Unchained Melody”, “Make You Feel My Love” by Adele, “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys and “Shallow” by Lady Gaga . like other love songs that may not be so familiar.
